My MacBook is only 8 Months old and it's battery or the charger is broken. For a while it would be plugged in and the light on the MagSafe would flicked between Green Orange and Off over and over again and not work. The only thing that worked was when it was off it would charge, but it doesn't even do that anymore. I tried calibrating the battery but that only made it worse cause it won't even charge up anymore.

So my question is, is the charger broken, is it the battery or both? Also can I just run the laptop with out the battery in, because I rarely need it with out a/c power.

It sounds like your charger is broken. The best solution would be to contact Apple or goto the nearest Apple store. Since your Mac is just 8 months old, guarantee should cover any repair costs.

Good Luck!

goto the apple store, let them take a look. your battery could be having a loose connection, or your charger may have to be replaced.

maybe the charger is contacting the laptop connection cleanly too
