I had asked this in another post a month or 2 ago and for those of who gave me suggestions about getting the crumbs out of the speakers on my MBP, none of the solutions worked.

I let my friend borrow my MBP for a few days so she could watch some DVDs when she went on a trip. She was eating around it and got crumbs of chips and other stuff in the little holes in the speakers.

I've tried using a vacuum and toothpick. I just cant' get them out. I'm going to take it to the Apple Store with me one day this week and ask one of the geniuses.

Any one have any ideas?

You could do it yourself you know.

Here is the disassembly instructions for replacing the upper case.

Once the upper case has been removed, I think it's possible to blow compressed air and get the crumbs off the speakers.

ey thanks. I know I can do it myself. But I don't want to take the risk of messing anything up. Like voiding my warranty. I'll see what the bar has to say.

Thanks!

Well maybe. I wasn't thinking about the warranty at that point. But what if they charge him the repair because it isn't a real problem? That's what I was thinking.

Anyway maybe the OP will get a cool Mac Genius who will do the work and not charge him if it isn't a proper Apple Care problem.

As long as you don't screw things up in an obvious manner, I think you can open it up and not cause them to void your warranty... I just recently got my MBP back from Apple repaired under warranty... even after I opened up the upper, lower, and LCD case (they replaced my main-board/CPU/GPU).

The only reason I took it apart was because I tend to try and repair things before sending them out. Usually its something simple... loose cable/ribbon bad RAM... whatever. For something like the OP is talking about, they are going to charge you for something that isnt a real problem.

Just take your time, use the proper tools, and be careful. If you are not comfortable with this, then PLEASE DO NOT DO IT. I have to repair laptops/notebooks as a part of my job, so I have grown comfortable with this, and have "gentle tech hands"
