The first keystroke often ignored when typing has not been fixed with the recent update for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and Apple has now locked the huge thread about the problem on their forums (search for 'elp' to find it). Thousands of users live with the problem. Apple will not acknowledge (they do have it registered though), nor fix this bug which has been around since the first Intel based MacBook Pros arrived.

I therefore encourage you to sign this partition:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/mbpkeyms/petition.html

You can also see here for further info:

http://www.petergabriel.dk/mbp.html

Please spread the word, and use the second link in this message if the forum you write in does not allow linking to a petiton. Apples doesn't.

might have seen a couple threads... maybe. but it certainly doesn't seem widespread.

I do have this problem at the moment, it happened before apple release the first update for Leopard. After updating, I am still having this issue. It is very annoy, I just signed on the petitionOnline. Thanks for the man who spending his time to make this thread, I also encourage anyone who has this issue should sign in this petition. I hope Apple will fix this bug soon.

Not widespread? This problem is huge. Take a look at the thread that Apple locked. http://discussions.apple.com/thread....sageID=6137203

This a really annoying problem that many MacBook Pro users suffer from. Many just don't know its a bug and think its them having problems typing. So did I for the first couple of months. Also the bug has been registered by Apple under the Bug ID# 4333743, a loooong time ago, but still no solution.

Personally? Adding your input to that Apple Discussions thread would be more useful than signing an online petition.

I have heard time and time again Apple developers and engineers scan regularly the discussions thread to correct certain problems in either software or hardware related issues even more so if the problem is widespread.

This is, to my knowledge, the first I hear about this problem, just like eric: in M-F we never got too many of those posts, guess they all went pretty much to Apple Discussions as it should anyway, if you want Apple to be aware of the problem so they can correct the situation. Either posting there or calling Apple Care lets them know directly of the situation.

To eric06, if you had read my link, you would know that the updater you link to does NOT fix the first key not always registered bug. Apple fixed another bug with that update, where keyboards would stop working completely. Otherwise thanks
