MacBook - usb power output

I am looking for a good portable harddrive that does not require an external power supply and one of the ones I am looking at says it needs an output of 5v on the usb port. I have a macbook, how can I tell how much my macbook is outputting on its usb port?

if it is a standard 2.5 inch drive (not the larger 3.5 inch found in most desktops) you should have no issues. i've got a couple of these and even though they come with 'double ended' usb cables so you can use more than one usb port for additional power, i don't need to do this for them to work properly.
