I am getting more ram installed into my macbook tomorrow and I was just wondering... does more memory result in less battery life? I'm not too familiar with what the extra ram does but I do know that it makes the computer go a lot faster so does that mean that the battery life will also decrease faster due to the computer working faster?

R.andom A.ccess M.emory is just for storing files often used by programs you're running. The analogy I like is to think of your HDD as a file cabinet that's a few meters away while your RAM is your desk. If you want to switch back and forth between files, it's easier to have a larger desk so you can put more files on it making it more convenient for you to switch rather than having to get up and go to your file cabinet every time you need another file.

That being said, it shouldn't suck up more battery life unless you're going from 1 RAM module to 2 (which normally isn't the case).
