Last night I put my MacBook (2 GHz, White, 2GB ram) to sleep. This morning I find the white sleep indictor light is no longer on and the battery is drained to 0%... It was not plugged into power or any USB or FireWire devices. Any ideas? I've got it plugged in and working now, but it seems odd that it would just drain for no reason. The battery is fairly new, I had the original one replaced a few months ago.

Thanks.

No... Some reason that you need to plug it in when it's sleeping?

I haven't tried to have my MB sleep without it being plugged into the wall, so I'm not sure how much drainage there typically is... but I'd expect that if you want to leave it on for an extended amount of time (esp overnight), you'd want to plug it into your outlet.

Generally, people put their machine to sleep while hooked up to the outlet, and that way the MB just uses a little bit of resources.

I know there is a drain... But It was nearly fully charged at like 85% or so, it can't be THAT much drain during sleep. My bad for not mentioning that in the OP.

There should be minimal drain... hardly noticeable, even over long periods of time..

Your issue happened to me as well a while back...

Here's what happen to me (an most likely you).. I closed my MB and then put in in a carry-bag... Later that night I pulled it out to use it, and noticed the light on the front was not on... I opened it, and.... nothing... I plugged it in, then turned it on only to find that the battery was a 0%.

This happened because the MB did NOT go to sleep for some reason.... I may have unplugged a USB when it was closed... thus waking it up while still closed.

When you close the MB, make sure you wait the few seconds until you see the MB light "breathing" (dim... bright.... dim)... THEN put it away.

Interesting... I did see the light blinking (I keep thinking I should cover it because in a pitch black room it is highly annoying!), and like I said it wasn't plugged into anything... Could a Bluetooth mouse do it? That's all I can think of that would have woken it, other than a ghost!

There have been a few people lately with battery problems on MacBooks:

shuts off when power cord unplugs, even though battery is fully charged!
6 week old Macbook won't charge!
No Low Battery Warning and Shutting Off Prematurely
Odd battery problem.
