I did a recent hardware upgrade to my 12-inch G4 1.33 and since then the fan has been on high at all times. I tried G4fan-control and it didnt seem to make any changes. I also checked all the connections and did a full dismantle to confirm everything was seated. Is there a specific wire or connector that could be damaged to cause this? I have reset the pmu, nvram, etc all to no avail.

TIA

Did you have to remove any heat sinks during your upgrade? If so, you may need to remove and re-apply thermal compound to them.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

What exactly did you upgrade with your hardware?
12-inchers are small machines and are prone to heating up a lot faster than their larger counterparts. If it was a larger, faster HD, then it will definitely need the fans on more often to compensate for the increased heat that drive creates.
Quite simply put, the more "power" you put under a 12-incher's tiny hood... the hotter it is going to get. I would suggest getting a cooling mat or something like that to help with the increased heat output of the newer hardware you installed.

Something to just check is that you don't have a runaway process. It's easy to assume something like a hardware upgrade has caused this, only to find that something has gone wappy and is eating 100% CPU. Check with Activity Monitor for any processes using a lot of CPU time when they shouldn't be.

Yes, I had to remove the GPU/CPU heatsink. My combo drive was toast so i upgraded to a new superdrve which on the 12 inchers you have to remove absolutely everything, frame, logic board, etc. Im wondering if i pinched a cable or something since it never changes speeds. I have changed all the thresholds and it makes no difference. It comes on at high speed on boot and never changes. The lappy is not hot to the touch either.

CPU Bottom - 99
Battery - 88
GPU - 113
HD - 95
Fujitsu 100GB - 99

Is this all in spec?

TIA
