What do you have, and does it do the job well? I have a macbook, and I am heading off to college, so I need a secure lock. I read bad things about kensington locks stripping the security hole. advice please.

Those locks don't do anything but keep the honest people honest. You could hack through them with a pair of scissors if you were determined. Where are you going to be where you're that worried about getting your MacBook lifted?

Try it sometime. We use Targus Defcon locks on some of our equipment at work. You'd have a difficult time with a hack saw - and you sure as heck wouldn't walk away without someone noticing.

This is the one I use with my MacBook Pro. I've seen a lot of equipment walk out of my company, but never with one of these.

I am going to be living in a dorm. People will steal anything that isn't bolted down. Its not foolproof, but it is a deterrent to theives who want to grab stuff and go fast.
