Does anyone know of any programs I can use to disable the express card slot? I'm not sure if this really helps, but I have tried removing the devices from my network configuration in system preferences. If there is a better way to shut off devices when I'm not using them, all advice is welcome.
I shut off bluetooth and airport when I'm not using them. I find it helps a bit. |

i dont think that the slot gets used unless u insert something in it. otherwise it'll stay off.
true turning off ur wifi and bt helps a bit, its also helpful if u dim ur screen as much as u can

The ExpressCard slot just connects via PCIe/USB (Not sure which, or if it's even both) to the logic board, so like the other I/O ports it won't draw power unless there's something in it.
