Well I just picked up an Isis memory foam case and and incase backpack. Both are great, i will feel very safe carrying it around everywhere.

But should I shut it down when Its in the sleeve and bag or just let it sleep (as you can guess, its my first laptop)?

i dont want to sound disrespectful or anything but i think you're being kind of rude. i mean can't you just help people and tell them. i can assure you that it would take the same time to write an answer as it took you to write an entire line of nothing. once again it's just expresing how i feel. i respect that your have a job to do and i think you're just doing that but man every thread i've seen you say the same thing. use the search button in a various of normal and sarcastic ways. there are however people who help but well that's just pointing a thought out. with all respect - akira

Everybody on this board, schweb included, is only here because we enjoy helping people with their problems. None of us gets paid to do this. But we find it very frustrating when someone asks us to take the time to type up a personal answer to a question when they are not willing to do a simple search themselves.

Sometimes some of us might even get a bit sarcastic occasionally, but we're human, too.

When we answer a question (or try to) we're not answering one person's question. We're posting an answer on the internet, so that everyone who has that same problem can find it and benefit.

Not to be a smart behind but no one is asking you to take your time to type up a personal answer. If there is a question that is constantly being asked that has been answered before, perhaps make a FAQ sticky? Also, maybe mentioning something in that " Please Read Before Posting!" thread about asking users to take advantage of the search option since a lot of questions have already been answered. Not everyone is a keyboard warrior and knows about the search feature.

As for the original poster - just shut the lid and put the computer to sleep when you're not using it. The computer is pretty much "shut off" (as in the fans aren't spinning, hard drive isn't spinning, etc.). I find Macs and OSX to be very good with the sleep mode. I've always had issued in Windows using the sleep feature and it's inevitable that a restart will be required sooner or later. With OSX though, I've found the sleep feature to work flawless and being able to open up your screen and have the computer ready to go without waiting it to boot up is just great.

They should.... seeing that it is included in the Forum Rules which is an Announcement located at the top of every single forum here.

As devilboy pointed out, we already do those things. We link to the forum rules in the welcome e-mail and PM that every member gets. As he pointed out, it does say to use search first.

When you've been around here longer, you'll see that FAQ's, stickies, even linking directly to Forum Rules and Forum Courtesy threads when people join often don't work because people are too impatient to read them.

We try our best, but the best response honestly to people that ask a question that has already been dealt with a 1000 times, is to refer them to search. It not only helps them for the future, but it helps the rest of the community as well.
