Occasional outdoor use; always bringing it to classrooms (relatively bright).

Not a designer.

Glare is my biggest concern, but I'm worried a Matte screen would be dull (and thus make the games I play like WoW and Civilization look less prettyful).

I basically use it like the every day college student would use it.

So any of you college students out there want to give me some input?

Which I did, but no situation is necessarily the same as mine.

Those with glossys say they love it and don't have too much problem with glare.

Those with mattes say they love it and don't have too much problem with glare.

Aka I'm stuck right in the middle.

Was hoping for an objective look from someone who has one and doesn't like it or who has had both.

Well how about an objective look from someone who doesnt have one??

I just purchased a MB after a lot of research. I was debating between the MBP and MB but that is not an issue here, but while I was decided on the MBP, I was at Best Buy and the MBP they had on the floor had the matte screen, and the MB next to it was glossy.

Personally, the glossy looked A LOT better to me. The pictures were much better and everything just looked pretty. The matte was not "not pretty" but it wasn't as good. The deciding factor for me to go with glossy was that it was a laptop! This means that if you experience glare, I'd say 90% of the time you can move slightly and it will be gone. With a desktop, I would probably want matte.

I'm a college student, and the glossy screen has been fine so far, very sharp. My brother has the non-gloss and it definitely doesn't look as good. If you are using it outside I def recommend some kind of case.

I've used a matte screen for the last couple of years at school and I love it, I don't use my computer outside so I'm not exactly sure how well it looks out there. The glossy screen will certainly make the colors more vibrant and the picture will no doubt look better, but matte screens certainly do not look bad at all. I really like having a matte screen and would take it over a glossy screen any day.

I really think the best thing for you to do is go to an apple store and look at the screens side by side. Apple stores have some pretty bright lights so you will get a pretty good idea of the glare, finger prints, dust, etc.

Well I have no idea how a glossy screen could be any better so I'd stick with matte...but of course the new iMacs are glossy only so I'm stuck D:

Glossy for games is amazing. I've used mine outdoors without too much problem, a little glare but nothing big. Any screen is going to wash out with sunlight on it though.

I've got nothing but good things to say about the Glossy; it makes WoW look really great as well.

Ive had both glossy and Matte on my MBP, See the thing is when it comes down to glare and color, matte has truer colors because the glare isnt washing out the color, but matte makes the color stand out IF you have no glare....so in other words personal pref reallly. I'd say go for the glossy, im using matte and its not a problem but if u want color definition, and purtyness then gloss. If you really dont want to deal with constantly trying to find a spot with no sun, matte

Bring back the white, apple?
