I cant decide which one is right for me. I have been a Windows user all my life, so this will be a big change.

I am going away to university in a month, and need a laptop, either the MacBook Black or the 15 inch 2.2 Ghz MBP.

Mostly, I will be using Word, Internet, Itunes, and MSN Messenger. Also, I will be downloading and burning movies quite a bit.

I am pretty sure the MB can handle that easily, plus it has a bigger HD than the Pro, which would be good for my movies. However, the only games I plan on playing are Starcraft which sholdnt be a problem, and the FIFA series (FIFA 08 when it comes out). It is not a very graphics intensive game as far as I know, so should the MB handle it?

Another thing to consider is portability. I have not yet checked out the MB and MBP side by side, which I plan to do. But I will be living in a small dorm and will likely be taking the Mac to class. Im not sure if the size difference will be an issue, as well as battery life and heat issues.

Which would you recommend for me?

EDIT: And how could I forget, one of the most important things I will be doing on my Mac (besides schoolwork haha) will be streaming live soccer matches and downloading torrents of past games. Would there be a big performance difference between the MB and MBP for this?

Please, this kind of question has been asked about fifteen gazillion times before. Try searching the forum or even Google. Places like MacWorld or www.lowendmac.com etc. have loads of comparison article.

Anyway, my recommendation would be for you to visit your local Apple store and compare the two models you have in mind. Trust your own opinion and no one else, it's your money - spend it wisely.

It sounds like the macbook is pretty much all you need. Read the other posts on the forums about this and go to an apple store to actually see the computers would be the best thing to do.
