Short answer, no, especially not for what your doing. That arent really any limits though a pro will probably be able to run high end gaming and video editing better. Other than that, dont waste your money.

The biggest difference between the two is the integrated graphics. The aesthetic differences are quite obvious.

If you don't have a particular need for the integrated graphics, then all it really boils down to is personal taste. Do you want a smaller more portable computer or do you prefer a larger screen? Do you want plastic or aluminum? Also, the keyboards are different and that alone can play a significant role in which one you choose (I'm not kidding, the keyboard played a big role in my choosing the Macbook over the Pro)

MBP also has backlit keyboard, and motion sensors that lock the hard drive arm in case you drop it.

The non-pro Macbook also has a motion sensor.
I'd say, and my friends would say that there's no need to spend more money. Actually you get more portability with the Macbook and also more comfort.
Gaming is not bad at all, but 2 gigs of RAM make it a lot better.
The only advantage the MBP has is perhaps the backlit keyboard, and I don't think it's really necesary...so VIVA LA NON PRO MACBOOK!

I wish i got the 15'' Macbook Pro. To much $$$ though.
Several reasons though. One is the 15'' screen. The 13'' screen is really to small for me. I already wear glasses, so it wasn't the best laptop for me to choose, and i like the back lit keyboard as i do a lot of work in the dark, believe it or not.

Pro's on the Macbook is its small and portable. It also looks sexy.

I love my Macbook. I went from having a 17" screen on a PC laptop to a screen around 13" on Mac, but I really like it. I have always preferred smaller screens and text, as well as extra portability. Mainly because I will be traveling with it and because I will usually have the screen right in front of me. The screen size would be different with other electronics - say a TV. That's when I would need a large screen, since people tend to sit further away. With my Macbook it's the perfect size; a laptop that can be moved around.

Macbook Pro's definitely have better graphics and the larger screens, but I don't game that much or do video editing.

The casing and the keyboard, as people have mentioned above, are different. In terms of the casing, one is plastic and one is aluminum. If the Macbook Pros were cheaper I would've possibly bought one, mainly for the casing. Then again, I love the keyboard on the Macbook.

It all depends on your preferences.

I do video editing. The Macbook does Final Cut Express quite well. The only thing it struggles with, is the reading from the 5400 hard drive. It really needs to be upgraded to at least 7400 for video editing.

When I was going to by a Macbook, either the regular or Pro model, I went w/ the 13" Black b/c I just couldn't see myself hauling that (albeit beautiful) 15" beast around w/ me on campus. No disrespect to the 15" Pro (or the 17" LapZilla), but I find it to be more of a "desktop replacement" than a true laptop/notebook. I mean, any laptop I buy or use will spend probably 80% of it's life on either my lap, or on some tiny desk in an auditorum at my college, so the 13" is the perfect size for me. The Pros have excellent hardware but I will say that I prefer the plastic b/c even w/ how well I take care of my laptop, it's always at-risk for being dropped or knocked around. Aluminum will form a unmistakable dent while plastic will most of the time rebound w/out a scratch.

For durability and road-worthiness, go w/ the Macbook.
For speed and screen real estate, go w/ the Macbook Pro.

Macbooks do everything macbook pros do. The only difference is lit keyboard, pc card, more graphic memory and another firewire port, and well the processor.
I don't see why a Macbook is considered just a consumer laptop considering that many professionals use them for their work: famous bands, writers, editors, animators, composers, coders, desingers.. and all of this with a Macbook (that's right, a non pro Macbook). The Powerbook is considered professional above the Macbook, with the Macbook being a lot better and newer? No offense to the forum moderators and admins, but in my oppinion the Macbook and Macbook Pro should've been in the same section, the iBook and the Powerbook in another one.
