So I'm getting ready to put in a new Hard Drive.

Any tips on making the transition smoother?

clone the old harddrive to the new one if you want to keep everything the same. but back everyhing up!! VERY IMPORTANT

I've been thinking of dropping a new HD myself sometime in the future. Here's a slick step by step guide for the physical replacement of the HD:
