I just installed the new update "MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.3" from the Software Update and now my computer takes longer to start-up compared to before I downloaded/installed the update. I've restarted and shut down a few times just in case it was slow only for the first time after the installation. Still have the problem of slow start.
Anyone having this problem? Using a MBP Santa Rosa 2.2ghz. |

After firmware installs, the computer should restart once, take what seems like a LONG time just sitting there, then restart again, fully boot, and be ready to use. Did your computer follow this?
You can also make sure that you've run your maintenance tasks lately, as perhaps the slow boot times and firmware update coincidentally landed around the same time. Use a program called Onyx and run it's automated task group (repair permissions, clear caches, etc) and see if this helps. I will try the Onyx program and see if this program helps. Thank you for your help. Quote:

I was having the same problem, and found that the slow boot may be related to something totally different.....Bootcamp
Here is the solution I found: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=498433&postcount=10 |
