The CD/DVD drive on my dual usb iBook has stopped working properly. It makes a lot of noise when trying to read a CD or DVD. Sometimes it is eventually able to read it, sometimes it just spits it out after trying for a while. I believe it is a hardward problem, the drive might now be spinning properly. Has anyone had this problem or removed their combo drive before?

Have you blown the dust out of the drive? This can happen if dust is on the lens. If you have the older iBook with the pop-out CD drawer, the lens is visable on the drawer to clean (very carefully...don't touch). The slot drives are harder to clean. Take it by the apple store and let them check it out.
