I am about to inherit a ibook g4 form my cousin. Within the first month she owned it she stepped on it while it was shut and broke half the screen. So I figure I'll hook it up to my tv and just use it to play my extensive movie and tv collection. Do ibook g4's use the same little converter (mini dvi?) that the new macbooks use? Thanks!

Yes mini DVI is what they use. The Ibook will mirror the desktop to your tv, but I would suggest downloading screen spanning doctor, (google it). It will allow you to close the screen and keep the mirrored image on your tv. Otherwise the tv screen will go black when you close it as well.
