Is it true that that the MBP's screen cannot be pushed all the way open?

I ask because I use my laptops's keyboard to type on while it's hooked up to the external monitor (there's no room for an external keyboard, plus I don't really want to use one). The way to do this is to open the screen on the laptop and push it down flat with the desk, out of the way of the external monitor.

If the MBP's hinges don't allow the screen to push back all the way, it will block the external monitor from my view -- which means a MBP won't work for me.

That's right. In order to keep the MBP nice and slim, the design of the hinge is setup in such a way as to keep it from being opened beyond a certain angle. It won't lie flat, but it does extend reasonably wide.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Bummer.

What about the regular Macbooks? Do they work the same way?

I believe so, but I haven't seen one in awhile.

Oh, man... I think I'm in trouble. I need this thing to lay flat, so it can slide under the bottom edge of the monitor.

Take the stand off the display, and suspend it from your ceiling. Case solved.
