I was sitting by my laptop (PowerBook G4) like any other time sitting there checking the internet when I suddenly lost my internet-connection.
So I thought; hey. Fine. I'll just go and tickle my router a little bit, but some hours later: my connection would not return.
In fact, while sitting there trying to fix the problem and occasionally working on some documents, my background disappeared, my "colors" suddenly turned blue, my language switched to Norwegian and my computer-functions would continue failing.

Since I was guessing things would turn normal I just left my laptop for a while and gave it a "break". But, what I didn't know was that my Mac decided that it would go on formatting itself.
So, when I came back my Mac was turned off, but when I logged on; despair came along.
Not a single document anywhere!
All the photos of my traveling around the world, school-trips, graduation, family moments, old boyfriends, new boyfriends, friends and all events that has happened the past three years = ALL gone.
Every single project and every single thought written down by me on good days, sad days, days where I wouldn't care, days where I would care, and so on..gone.
Not to mention all the music that I won't ever have time to download again.

What should I do? I'm heartbroken, really.
I have no idea why that happened. I didn't do anything.
I know it must seem like I'm a total geek, but those were things I've just had lying around, not because of any great use, but those were my memories.

Huh! That's horrible! I have never heard that before. Sounds like a really bad joke.

Don't install anything on your PB right now. Somebody here should post a name of a recovery tool for data. I know those from windows times, but have never used it on my mac though. So I hope somebody know more about those apps than me.

Actually, when you format a disc, everything is still there. Just the "table of contents" for the data has been deleted. Those recovery toolsare made to go through your whole disc and rebuild the ToC. Only when you install lots of new things, it will overwrite the old data.

Hope you can recover everything!

Diskwarrior seems to be an often recommended program around here so I would try that. Good luck.
