First off, apologies if I'm breaking the Mac-Forums ju-ju and not posting this in the correct thread. I didn't see anything that blatantely stated "Troubleshooting Here." Of course, I could be oblivious to the obvious. Moving on...

I just updated my laptop (which has been running magnificently for over eight months, to include six of those months in Baghdad) to 10.4.10 and now every time I boot up, I keep having this stupid SuperDrive update program come up saying there's no "eligible" drive (not the correct term, I just didn't write down exactly what is said...my bust) for it to update. Now my iTunes won't even open.

Anyone have a suggestion? I'd appreciate some thoughts.

Best Regards,
Pp.

before you click "ok" on that window, go down to the dock, right click on the icon that is for that message and uncheck "open at login"....bingo!

haha I had the same problem so I just deleted the update in the Utilities folder. Don't know if that was the best solution but a solution nonetheless.

I have the same problem with mine; I unchecked the "open at login" for that update, but my iTunes still won't open. I downloaded iTunes from apple.com and reinstalled, still wont open.

I had the same issue with itunes. Um...I don't know how I fixed it. I was running shapeshifter and candy bar so I restored defaults and restarted. After a combination of things that I can't remember right now, itunes finally launched after I pulled it off my dock and dragged it back on. Good luck.

Thanks. I use Shapeshifter too, so i defaulted to aqua, undocked the iTunes icon, and restarted iTunes from my applications folder. It works now (although there is apparently some problems with this version of iTunes that needs a fix in the next few days).

Well, hm. I honestly would have never thought to touch Shapeshifter in order to fix iTunes. Call it my Mac naivete, I suppose. Thank you for the help, guys! Also, thanks for the SuperDrive fix, too...I went with the unchecking it at login option as opposed to outright deleting it (paranoia). Thanks!

what problem did you discover? After the itunes update all my bands starting with numbers are all the way at the bottom while the A's are at the top. Weird. Is there a fix for that or am I just that noobian?
