From OWC:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other.../53IM2DDR4GBK/ To make it even hotter, you can trade in your old ram for $25 per gig stick. The new MacBook Pros come standard with two gig sticks, so you could get $50 back. That means the ram ends up costing you $189 for a savings of $561 over Apple: http://eshop.macsales.com/money-back-rebate Mac Sites - down for reconstruction |

I bought a 4 GB Dual Channel Kit (OCZ PC-5400 2 x 2GB) for $146.99 CDN... total came to about $161 after tax and shipping. The RAM works flawlessly in my MacBook Pro. As I understand it there are only 2 RAM slots in the MBP. If this is the case and each slot has a 1GB stick in it, removing one of those sticks and replacing it with a single 2GB stick would give you a total of 3GB. So - If all this is correct - I don't find this as an alternative way to get to 4GB from 2GB. Please feel free to set me straight. I've not yet received my MBP... The Christmas tree is going up tonight!

Maybe someone can set me straight, because I'm seeing a lot of 2GB RAM on Newegg for a lot less than the deals being mentioned here.
Maybe the specs of the RAM I'm looking at don't match with an MBP. They are all DDR2 SO-DIMM 667 PC@ 5300. Would that work for my MBP? Are there differences in RAM for a new MBP and an older one like mine. (I already know mine won't use 4gig, but I'm probably going to buy a 2gig and get my max of 3) "Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others" |
