Hey everyone,
I just ordered a 17inch Mac Book Pro with all the goodies! Here is what I got:
MacBook Pro, 17-inch,
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
3GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x2GB, 1x1GB
SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Accessory Kit
MacBook Pro 17-inch Widescreen Display
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
100GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 256MB SDRAM

I also ordered the Final Cut Studio 2 edit suite which will ship Jun. 1st.

I am going to be going to Brooks Institute of Photography for Film and Video Production. I have been editing movies and such for the last 5-6 years or so on the Adobe Production Suite. I can't wait to learn the Final Cut Studio2 suite!

Also I am going to be running 2 external HDD with a total of 750GB of storage. I needed to go with the 7200RPM drive in the MBP for the video otherwise I would have gotten the bigger HDD.

I have only used a mac a few times so I will most likely be on here a lot asking questions.

Oh and my MBP will be here beginning of next week! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Josh

Welcome aboard, you've made an excellent choice. Be sure to come back here as you have questions. Many recent "switcher" topics have been covered extensively, so be sure to try the search feature.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

You can post your best photo shot in the current month. It's not a competition though... we're all winners for simply owning Macs

Very nice setup, isn't FCS2 going to take up about half of your hard drive space? Unless you opt out of all the templates and stuff but I'm not sure if that'd be a good idea or not... Either way, congrats man.

Yeah it will but I have 2 external HDD that will total about 750GB of space for all my actual editing. I will be running them on the Firewire 800.

Nice, congrats. I was so antsy when mine was out for delivery. That was the longest 6 hours of my life haha. Have fun with it. I'm sure you'll like it.

Congrats!

It's funny, I've been around when many of my friends were anxiously awaiting their very first Macs. I've been in the car as they sped home, praying to God that there wasn't a "Sorry we missed you" note on their door.

Nothing quite gets the blood flowing like a brand new Macintosh...especially if it's your first!
