Key Symbols

There's a key on my keyboard which I can not find a use for. It's next to the apple key, on the right and has a symbol like a letter K but on its side. Does anybody know what it's for?

It may be an option key

ya it's the option key. you can use it in combination with the apple key for even more keyboard shortcuts than the apple key alone would offer you.

The option key on my iBook just says "option" on it.
