Macbook - Brightness drops to zero at restart

Anyone have any idea on this problem? Basically, no matter how bright my Macbook display is when I shut it down, once it restarts I have to press F2 several times to bring the screen light back on. I've looked for a way of changing this default but no joy.

1. if no one replies on here after a day or 2. 48 hours +
2. go on http://www.apple.com/support/ - search
3. ring apple. or go into a store.
