If he des it on a MacBook it might work, but I remember peopel saying the powerbook would melt that way

yea in the title i said powerbook but i meant macbook pro

what do u mean the powerbook would "melt" that away??

isnt there a way for the screen to turn off but for the computer to stil be running without going to sleep??

it just seems weird that theres no other way besides downloading an additional program??

hasnt apple thought about people who are downloading things that want to close their displays??

there is too much heat buildup when the lid is closed. apple doesnt allow you to close the lid while the mac is running for this very reason.....if you dont believe me, then check your temps while running normally, and then with the lid almost closed.

I wish this rumor would go away.

There is no reason a PowerBook or MacBook Pro can't be safely run with the lid closed, either through a software hack like sleepless/insomniax or an external mouse and monitor.

That was true for the iBook only.

I used insomniax to keep my PB running while I folded with increase.. It could just be a fluke but I just had to spend $240 to replace my HDD in my PB because it fried..
