i tried to use my macbook's built in microphone to record my proffessor's lectures in university...but when i listen to the recording, it is very very quiet... I am using the software "audio recorder 3.1". Does this problem have to do with the software (is there a better one to use for recording?) Or is the macbook built-in mic generally doesn't record very well?
QUOTE Thanks

Open System PReferences > Audio > Input Tab and set the Input level to the highest. Be aware that now noise made by you will be picked up more easily, too. Also, the direction of the mic may not be he most ideal, so maybe a little desktop mic that yo can point will yield better results. But first try my software tip before wasting money :-).
