hello. I have a power book 15" and It came with bluetooth installed.

i have a mouse and keyboard that connect using bluetooth.

all of a sudden, my bluetooth does not work. When put my cursor over the symbol, it says, "bluetooth not available."

when I go to utilities and go to the bluetooth folder, it asks me if I have connected it properly.

can anyone help?

thank you
joe

Go to System Preferences by clicking on the blue apple in the top left corner.

Choose Bluetooth from the second row.

There will be three little boxes near the top of the window that opens, they will say "Settings" ... "Devices" ... "Sharing."

Choose "Settings" and make sure Bluetooth Power is set to "On." If it is not, press the button as indicated on the screen.

My first thought is that your bluetooth radio is broken.

Try typing "bluetooth" in Spotlight and see if the bluetooth logo appears as an application.

Ok I had this problem before also with my iMac. What I had to do was do a couple of things.

Try this one first
Unplug all your USB devices and then shutdown the computer. Leave it off for a minute, or remove the battery. Reboot the computer and this sometimes helps fix the bluetooth problem.

If that doesn't work, try deleting your prefs /lib/pref/com.Bluetooth.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and then reboot.

or try this one: Shutdown the computer and disconnect everything, hold the ctrl-alt-shift buttons, then restart the computer.

If that one doesn't work try shutting down your computer, hold down Command-Option-P-R and then reboot, let it chime twice and then let go.

One of the above should work for you

ok, first thing I have done so far is to do search for bluetooth via spotlight. it comes up many times even in applications, but when I click on it, it says the hardware can not be found.

I am going to try the other things now. wish me luck!

Not sure if Bluetooth for laptops is wire in the screen part or if it's a module plugged into the logic board somehow but... maybe, if it is a module, it has become unseated? Or if it's a wire, could it have been pinched somehow and sectioned?
