Hey guys, I just got my 12" Powerbook G4 1.5GHz that I won from eBay, and the only issue it seems to have is when you try charging the battery. In order to charge the battery, the laptop lid has to be closed (sleep mode), or the laptop has to be shut down entirely. When the laptop is on AC power with a non-fully charged battery, it does not charge. I already had purchased a brand new genuine Apple battery so I know that's not the problem since it does this with both batteries.

The only thing I can think of is that the DC power/charging board is bad. I can get a replacement on eBay for about $40-50, so that's not too bad at all. Has anyone else had this problem before, and does anyone know if replacing that board will fix the issue? I believe it is located below the touchpad; someone correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

BTW, I really love this thing. The 12" Powerbook G4 is definitely the greatest laptop ever made lol!

Alright, I purchased a new DC to DC board and that still didn't fix the problem. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Have you tried resetting the power management board? I don't remember the keys you need to push but try Googling start up commands, it's a command-shift combination.

Already tried resetting PMU, nvram, and PRAM to no avail. Next step is a new AC adapter and if that still doesn't fix it then the logic board is likely to blame, in which I will be happy charging my battery while I'm sleeping and the laptop is turned off. I have 2 fresh batteries now anyways, so that gives me between 8 and 12 hours of battery life, which is plenty...
