I want to use a rewritable DVD to back up my Itunes library but it has something on it. Do I need some software other than what comes stock with the Macbook Pro in order to erase a rewritable dvd?

Do I have what I need with OS X?

I must say that this forum is extremely helpful to someone like me who just bought a new Mac. I've been able to find most answers to questions here.
