OK I had my Macbook since May this year and few days ago, my battery had died. It is no longer recognized when plugged in.

I'm thinking it may be good idea to get Applecare now because the service people said there are a lot of problems with the MB like logic board, screen, battery..

Not sure if it's scared tactics =)

What do you guys think?

Reset PMU before you do anything drastic like that. I consider Applecare like every other warranty a joke.

It is nothing more than a money maker. You wonder why insurance companies make so much money...because they hardly ever have to payout large amounts of the time. When it comes to electronics they strive to make great products just so they profit on the warranties. On ocassion they will have lemon products but it is rare. If you are referring to things you read on message boards then that's because people with problems usually come looking for answers. People with no problems are usually happy and just enjoy their products and have no need to make comments.

Nope the battery did really die.

I also tried resetting the PMU before I even called Apple.

Anyways, bought to the service centre and they tested with a different battery and it recognized it right away.

Yes for most warrantys I would agree it's a rip off but I think for something like a notebook particularly Apple brand it's worth considering.
