Macbook - "cooling" pad

do any of the cooling pads make a difference on the macbook? i am just curious to ask this beauase when i look on the bottom i notice no vents for the fan to suck any of the warm air out. i know that it would make a difference for it being raised up an extra 1/4 of an inch, but do the fans on the cooling pad really help?

Yes. The fans pull the heat off the bottom of the MacBook. If it lowers the temp just a few degrees, then it's doing its job.

i was debating between either one of the pads with the fan, or this one that raises it up to allow better air circulation.
