Firewire problem - powerbook G3 500mhz - 10.3.9

Both firewire connections doesn't work
When I connect a firewire device nothing happens
When I look in system profile/ firewire bus my powerbook recognizes the firewire device correctly but can't communicate with it
Does anyone has any idea how to solve this problem?
