Hello & goodday everyone! I just recieved my Macbook today - which is the 1st apple I have owned. Opening the box and seeing that Macbook was breathtaking to say the least. I have a question regarding my Apple.

With my PC I use a Spysweeper : does apple have anything like Spysweeper ?

Does an antivirus work the the same on a Mac and do I need to purchase one ?
(I know the internet is full of bad things that can make comps sick)

Im sure these are simple ?'s however I know very little about Macs.

Best Regards,

digitalfish

I recommend NOT getting any AV for you Mac. It will just slow it down. There is no need for it nor a spyware scanner.

You won't need a Spyware program as no Spyware exists for OSX. The only real reson to get an AV app for OSX is to keep from passing anything you may get in e-mail, that won't hurt you, on to your PC using friends.

That being said, I don't have any AV running on any of the Macs in my house....

and yeah, like they said, u will be fine mostly without av/spyware programs as they are meant to harm windows computer since that is what the majority uses... it wont harm ya (unless u are booted up into XP)

for more information you can look HERE

Don't forget to search next time, there is so much information on this topic on these forums. Look to see if we have discussed the issue then if we have not then ask the question. Asking the question over and over again will clog up the forums with so much of the same question it makes it hard for people to just look through.. and even search.

you will end up liking it alot... out of 3 OSs that I used (windows, linux (ubuntu/kubuntu) and OS X, X is by far the best... its also very easy to learn... especially if you have a general knowledge about computers
