So I received my macbook pro today. I like it so far, but I have a question. I ordered it with a 120 gb hd instead of the 100. But when i click on the hd in finder, it comes up as 94.21 gb. This sounds more like a 100 gb hd than a 120. Now i understand that they aren't exactly 120 but less, but for it to be 26 gb for formatting purposes?? Just wondering what you all thought. I really DON'T want to have to send it back.

Thanks,

I have the 100Gig hard drive in my MacBook Pro and after formatting it says 93.2 gigs total so it sounds to me like you have the 100 not the 120. I would first make sure it showed up on your order that you had the upgrade listed and that you paid for it and htne call Apple.

I think I do have the 120, I went into "about this mac" and it said that I have 111 total, and 94 available. So I guess the OS takes up quite a bit?

You have a 120GB. The OS itself does not take all that much but iLife and a few other things do take up a bit of space.

If you have 120GB, the real space is 111.8 - take into account OS space and initial add-ons you come up with 94

Edit: Easy way to determine real hard drive space - XGB / 1.073 = real space, X being the size
