Ok, so before I take the plunge here's what I've got.
1.83 ghz intel core duo w/ 1.5 gb of ram. My version is 10.4.6. When my lappy does the once a week check up, it wants me to upgrade the SMC firmware and to go to 4.7. Now I have the first bootcamp and upgraded the firmware then, the first week they released it. My book runs fine right now. What I'm wondering is if the upgrades pose a danger to me? I already cracked open my MBP and reapplied the thermal paste. It used to run WAYYY HOT. Now it gets hot, just tolerably so. Will upgrading slow down my processors, thus fooling me into believing that my mbp is cooler? I hear some people saying that their mbp is cooler, but that its because the cpus dont run at full speed, or they disabled one. Is there ANYTHING to this? Secondly, what about the airport issues? People saying the airport worked find till they upgraded to 4.7 and now it doesnt work or works wonky. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bishop |
