I just purchased a macbook from the online education store. I got the 1.8 combo version. However, I just realized that for one of my classes, I need a dvd burner. I want to return my macbook and get the 2.0 superdrive version, but I dont want to have to ship it back to them, because I need it this Saturday fro a trip I am making to Canada. But anyway, is can I return the computer to my local apple store and buy my new macbook at education price, so I dont have to deal with shipping?
QUOTE Thanks

I would have to suggest calling the Apple store and find out. Although, at a guess, I would say if you did not buy it there, you can not return it.

Ive decided to buy an external dvd, just to avoid the touble. But I just got the macbook in the mail this morning, and when I looked in the box I couldnt find the ilife disc. I wanted to reformat the drive right away to get any and factory bugs out, but I dont want to loose ilife in the process. Doesn't apple normally send the ilife installation disc?

Everything that is on the hard drive from the factory is on the two CDs that came in the documentation box, so you can go ahead and re-format with out fear. I should also note, however, that reformatting is un-necessary. Unlike a Dell or HP that comes loaded with trial software and crap you don't want, Apple ships their laptops pretty clean. If there is an app installed that you don't want, than drag it into the trash and it's gone.

Amen to that!

Although just to be sure the app is completely gone I will usually do a spotlight search for the application name to make sure I get rid of any settings files it may have scattered around my profile.
