apple doesnt have their own superdrive.

There are plenty of external dvd burners that are compatible with macs.

the most popular are Lacies from what i have seen. I know they are available at applestores and apple.com

Is this still the case (your reply was (2004) or has iDVD been upgraded to work with an external drive?
Thanks

Idvd will work with an external super drive if you use patch burn. I've been using one for some time now.

iDVD5 will work with external drives now, and if it doesn't work you can save as a Disc Image and burn with Disk Utility, and then there is also PatchBurn

Don't forget to use the new User Reputation System

I had no problems using my external 16x DL DVD Burner with my Apple, I used PatchBurn.
