Hi all,

Sorry for another 15" or 17" thread, but I really cant make my mind up. I just sold my PowerMac with a 23" Cinema Display. I had a 17" PB, and believed that I dont need to travel, so I got a PM, but I was wrong. Now I cant make up my mind between the two options:

1) Get the 15" and a Dell 20" Display.

2) Get the 17" without an external monitor

I love big monitors, and I basically do webdesign. I dont travel much, but when I did i found that my 17" PB was somewhat bulky.

EDIT: And I would also like to know if there is a big speed and performance difference between the 5400 and 7200 RPM

Let me know what you guys think (I can wait any longer because my PC keeps crashing every 30 min)

17" is way faster than similar 15" (barefeets ran benchmarks) both have Rx1600 GPU but 17" GPU clock speed is twice faster. plus you get extra USB and FW800. go with 17.

Is it really that faster? Even if some benchmarks show better results, its the kind of performance you will never notice while working on your laptop...

well it depends what you want to do on your laptop. for everyday stuff you wont see any difference in performance between 2.16 MBP and 13" MB.
the big difference between 15 and 17 comes in graphics performance not CPU. this is where 17 really excels.

If you don't care how portable it in and money is not a big issue go with 17. if need it for basic stuff 15 will do more than you need.

Well I basically need it for web-design, and some times I will probably play some strategy games on Boot Camp. Will I see a performance difference between 15" and 17" ?

15 inch.....17 is huge. I even find the 15 inch too big for a laptop. I just prefer smaller laptops.

If you require loads of workspace whilst travelling then go for the 17 inch, however if not go for the first option.

Back with the mac!

I think the 15" is plenty big enough and the extra 20" Dell would be nice too

yeah. if you're worried about speed, just get a 2.16 and 2 gigs of memory

I would want the 17 in, with the 15 in. to get the same speed it's only 300$$ cheaper than the 17in.
You get more with the 17in. it's only a pound heavier, 1 in.bigger and the 17 gets better battery life.
