So I opened up Safari yesterday and there it was, that glorious thing of a MacBook. I fell in love with the black one and was amazed at the fact that it came with the 2.0GHz Intel (I thought when those were released they'd be slower than the Pro). Plus I thought the fact that it was still small but it had the widescreen was pretty sweet. So here's the thing, I just bought a 1.5GHz PB G4 last October and I've loved every moment that I've had it. I edit film frequently (that's a career I want to pursue), I also create music and things like that.

So here's my question: I know my dad wouldn't mind having my PowerBook since the school district he works for has basically boycott Apple and won't let their employeed purchase anything (though they can't stop them from buying it with their own money) so I'm wondering what you guys think would be a fair price to ask. I want to get the most I can out of it so I don't have to pay a lot out of pocket for a MacBook but I don't want to rip my dad off. Thanks guys

Depends on what you paid and what he would have to pay if he went though Apple, A price for your dad is totally up to you. (When's fathers day )

Just give it to him, hes your dad! I give my dad anything he wants when I am done with it, for that one reason... hes my dad!

be nice to your own father, as you were growing up he gave you alot, and now that you are going to upgrade to pursue your career (even though your only a kid, I understand I am 17 myself) you will be making money off your purchase, so my vote is give it to your dad for free.. you will always get things from your dad for free, so take this opportunity to pay back the favor..

i would have to go with powerbookg4 on this one but most likely your dad wont accept it for free. talk to him about how you want the new computer and how you think he might want your old book.

most likely he will give you some money for it. and then you will most likely need to mow the lawn for free for the next month, trim the shrubs, wash his car and do a few other odds and ends

MoTM honor roll...

I would agree with just giving it to your father, but those still go for like what.. 700-800 bucks? I could see if it's a pc that's barely kicking still, but if you want to give it to him, go for it, but if he offers you money, I wouldn't say no

FCP = Final Cut Pro? Negative, I was going to buy it from a friend but I was never able to get the money. As far as giving it to my dad goes, I'd do it in a heartbeat if I had the extra cash to afford it. I'm currently unemployed and I'm supposed to be moving out in 4-6 weeks so what money I do have needs to go to that, I can't afford to pay a whole $1200-1500, but I could make up the difference if I sold my Powerbook.

Then I would wait until I moved and got a job, saved up some money and then give your dad the powerbook. That way you will have your computer for a while and you are working towards getting another one, and when you are able to do that give him the powerbook.

Hasn't your Dad done enough and given enough to you already?... just give it to the man if you don't want it.
