I have been looking at macbook pros for a while now and since boot camp im thinkin of buying one asap. But i am wondering why i can not upgrade the lower cost models. I mean i want the 2.0 macbook pro but i want an 8x double layer drive, not a 4x single. or a 256mb video card not a 128. They say the 17inch is still one inch just like the 15inch so why can't i upgrade? Also is this only over the site? do i have more flexability if i went into a mac store?
QUOTE Thanks

No you can't, the 17" is wider, so they have more room to shift things over and make room for the dual layer drive
