I just bought a G3 iBook and would like to upgrade it. I am new to the whole mac scene and wonder where i could find upgrades for the Ram, HD, and processor? it seems like everywhere i look has G4, but not much for the G3. it has 500 MHz right now, and i was wondering if i bought an upgrade, would it add to the 500 or would i take the old one out and put a completely new one in. thanks for the help.

Can't upgrade the proc. You can bring the RAM up to 640 if it has 128 integrated and up to 576 if it has 64mb integrated.
you can upgrade the harddrive, but it is not as simple as on most laptops. you must disassemble the bottom and top covers(can't get the top off without removing the bottom first) and then you will have access to the hard drive. PLEASE get a manual somewhere as it is not as obvious as it may look. |
