Just wanted some feedback - is it a good idea to purchase the apple care plan for an iBook? Does it cover it the battery?

Thanks in advance!

I think it's always a good idea to purchase applecare on a laptop. IT'll most likely see hard time, as it goes everywhere with you. The outside world is a harsh place. Also, I had to use applecare for a 12" powerbook I had. Out of nowhere, a big line appeared on the LCD. They replaced everything no questions asked.

The warranty is a year if I'm not mistaken, but phone support is 3 months, I think.

This is correct. Just be sure to buy it within 364 days, otherwise you're SOL.
