    What's people's recommendations for the best anti virus for my MBA?

    2011 13" MBP 2.3ghz, 8gig ram, OS 10.8.5
    No antivirus necessary.

    As already stated - None! One reason I transitioned from PCs (following retirement) to Apple in the spring of this year - read a lot (and received plenty of help here) about 'malware' - for your interest, two of the more helpful reads are HERE1 & HERE2; there is also a malware guide in the forum.     What if he is running some flavor of Windows via Bootcamp?

    In this situation someone would have to deal with this just like they would with any Windows computer. But still no effect on the OS X partition.

    Of course, another consideration even if you are just running OS X would be passing 'malware' as an email attachment to a contact running Windows - in that instance, checking outgoing email for viruses, etc. would be prudent (a topic discussed in one of the links in my previous post). Dave
