upgade to windows 8.1

has anyone upgraded to windows 8.1 pro in bootcamp
is it a total reinstall
or an upgrade
any advice welcome

Yeah, i did.
Windows 8.1 which you download from Windows Store is an upgrade. Your files and applications are not going to be deleted.

Hi it worked great tip for any one reading don't do a windows 8 refresh
Or you will need to do boot camp all over again like I did
Says it keeps your files yeh but that's it removes boot camp all your programs
And internet & wifi settings

I upgrade my VM of Win 8 Pro to 8.1 yesterday…..went without a hitch.

Yep. First one failed with error
0xC1900101-0x40017
Second time failed with error
0xC1900101-0x30018
Third time failed with error
0xC1900101-0x20017
I had to install new video drivers direct from Nvidia and I had to do it in safe mode - which was a little more involved than I'd hoped.
I also disabled Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.

Once I did this the upgrade went fine.
