    Macbook 4.1 RAM problem
Hello, I have a macbook 4.1 and recently I thought I had a ram card that went bad. Upon replacing it I discovered that it was not the ram that was bad, but the actual slot itself. Is there a way this can be fixed or would a new mother board be needed?

If the ram slot is bad...then you will need a new logic board. New mother boards are not cheap...and would probably exceed the current value of a MacBook 4,1.

I'm not a repair guy by any means but I think a bad ram slot means changing out the logic board. I am assuming you tried a known good chip in the slot (such as using your existing good chip). If the "new" chip does not work in that slot there could be other reasons.

    To the OP:

Do some hard googling. There were several threads in the Apple Discussion Forums on how to fix or repair a memory slot that seems to be bad. If I remember correctly, the repair was a simple one and was a do it yourself project. I tried to find the thread for you but no luck and I'm currently pressed for time.
