Earlier today, I put my Sims 3 disk into my MacBook laptop (not Pro) and it started to make this awful whirrling sound. I couldn't eject the disk since the computer didn't even recognize that it was in there. I tried restarting the computer, but now it's stuck on the gray reboot screen with no Apple logo and no progress gear thing. It stays like this and doesn't go away. I tried using command+E, holding down the space bar and left mouse, resetting NVRAM/PRAM. I'm really frustrated and the closest Apple store is pretty far away so I'd like to avoid having to make that trip if I can. Thanks!

Never mind, I figured it out. I got desperate and was able to fish out the disk with a credit card and all my problems were solved.
QUOTE Thanks
