Does leaving macbook air on all the time (while plugged in) to download torrents degrade battery life?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

In short no. You cannot over charge the battery.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I'm going to do something very rare and contradict HarryB.

While he is perfectly correct that you can't overcharge the battery, leaving it plugged in all the time will degrade the battery life over time. In addition, the constant heat will likely shorten the life of the unit overall as well as the battery.

I'm not even going to get into the wisdom of torrents but using the computer constantly for almost anything is going to have a long-term detrimental effect.
