I'm having several persistent issues lately with my Mac Book Pro (Purchased 2010)

a. Periodically the screen blacks out

b. Sluggish to restart when rebooted

c. Skype won't stay turned off, even when I've "Quit" it

Ideas about what might be going on?

Many thanks!

Deborah

a. need more info - blacks out because it goes to sleep? Verified your sleep settings?

b. What size and how much free space on the drive? Have you run Onyx lately.

b&c. Have you checked your startup items and removed everything you don't want to start at bootup?

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

And after that any liquid spills in the last couple of months?

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
