what laptop for video editing?

is anyone using their power book to edit video? how does it work with final cut pro? what about the new MacBook intel?

I have a brand new 1.67 ghz 17 inch powerbook with 1gb ram. It runs FCP really well, it handles everything I throw at it quickly and without fuss. I edit mainly in PAL at standard definitions but do some HD work. Are you looking to do HD editing?

I have a 15" Powerbook 1.67Ghz with 2GB of RAM.

I run Final Cut to edit wedding videos off of an External HD. Works beautifully.

what is an external HD?

i dont need to edit Hi Definition yet but could do in the future. i just cant make my mind because i need it for large prjects and if i think of it being 1.67 ghz and only up to 2gbRAM and compare it with 3.2ghz and 4 GbRAM in the PC i have worked in it just seems a bit too slow. The only reason i need a mac is for FCP i need to learn it throughly for a job.

I don't think you can go wrong with a new MacBook Pro.
