I currently have a Sony Vaio pentium 4 with 512 ram. How would the performance of a 1.33ghz iBook with 512 ram compare to my PC just for surfing the internet and other things?

In short. Apples and oranges don't compare well, they're fruit but quite different. Secondly, don't base the entire computing experience on the performance of it in terms of stats and specs, the end results often count for much more and the experience you have in getting those end results.
